What Steve means is, (and I know he won't mind me saying this) that as you become more aware of your model, you will become more aware of what is behind her/him.
In this particular image, for example, you have the distraction of a car, power lines, houses, and some type of white object. They are blurry, which helps, but they are still distracting when you want the viewers' eyes to focus on the cute girl with the umbrella.
So, next time, move in close to your model. Maybe shoot just her head and shoulders. Shorten your DOF, and get the reflection of the pattern of the umbrella in her sunglasses. See what I mean?
The good news is, if you joined our group to learn you've come to the right place because we are not shy about teaching through our tips and tricks! We all began at the beginning, and if you ask (and even if you don't,  ) we are willing to help, so don't be afraid to ask for help.
