Hi Slim!
I really love the bright red against the gold of the grass. This is just me, but I'd crop out the background and come in close on the grass/umbrella for a more dramatic shot.
Or, if you prefer the lonely umbrella in the field image, lengthen the DOF so that the whole scene is in focus. But, like I said, that's just me, so please take my comments with a shaker of salt! 
Hope you don't mind someone who hadn't been around in awhile popping in and giving you some unsolicited C&C.
