FYI,
The 2nd yes it is rather saturated.
The first: pure natural. It was right after the rather rare rain of CA summer. It was clear and crisp and wonderful!! and as it was and no haze as it should have been on the mountains. As I said: it was all "au naturel."
I really want to like your images. I feel the processing is a little off. It looks like heavy Grad filtration caused weak tones in the foreground foliage. You can see the grad lines, and it's obvious effects that I don't feel were totally corrected
The light is really nice in all of them, but I don't like the processing AT ALL. The clouds in #2 and 3 are blown out and the colors look totally unnatural. As much as I like saturated colors, I'd suggest starting from scratch and carefully process the colors. Therefore, my favourite is #1 because it's the most natural looking of the bunch. On the other hand, the composition seems to be the best in #2.
I'd be proud to have any one of these 4 in my portfolio. Too bad for that pesky pine tree the protrudes into the vista of half-dome in the sunset shots.
I like the light and the sky in that first one, but prefer the comp of the second. I should get back to Yosemite some time when it's not the dead of winter.
I love the artistic look of your last post, too, Bob, and teh light and colour - paricularly in 3 - is lovely and very atmospheric of that super location.
Thank you all. I am glad you all, each in your own way and taste, but you enjoy the beautifull world with me. This is ever changing. I have the fortune to live nearby, so I will come back for more and more. Each time my life is enriched a bit more.
