Where do you live? Alaska, The North Pole, or the Arctic Circle
To everyone else. There have been many amazing & colorful photos from the various fireworks displays, that have been captured. I have definitely enjoyed looking at fireworks from aound the globe.

Count me among the several who love this shot! I just got a 24T&S... can you tell me about what you did for this shot? A little upward shift to get sky and rectilinear building? What about exposure info?
Happy post 4th to all Americans, and fireworks lovers worldwide.
I used my Canon 1DMarkII, with the 28-70mm lens, on a tripod in manual mode. Typically ISO 200, 1-3 seconds in length. We are that close and they are that bright.
Oh, and all of that was with a blown shuter. Apparently long exposures didn't affect the shutter planes like anything above 1/5th of a sec. I blew the shutter earlier that day, go figure!
Jonathan, if it bothers you that much, stop replying. The thread will slide off onto the second page before you know it.
Considering the have recently been fireworks photos in active threads on the Landscape, City (including Mustang Air to Air), Wedding, Nikon, and Photo Illustration forums, in addition to Canon, it looks like they fit in all over the place.

This is a GEAR forum, NOT a presentation forum. These belong elsewhere.
Jonathan: The original question does ask how you capture these photos which is intended to solicit info about the gear used and the technique used with that gear. I for one have learned alot about long exposures, shooting at night, and which lens/camera benefit the most in any given situation. tmiller's post above yours gave invaluable info on gear plus EXIF. If we can also celebrate our great country's independence and show off some stunning photographs at the same time, well, that's just frosting...
Great shots everyone!
To all who replied to the Canon vs Nikon post and the gear post--Boy, it sure didn't take you long to take the bait did it. Did some of you help out that poor Nigerian fellow get his money from the American bank? :-)
