I just printed them two more copies from my 9550 and they were happy. Though I'm confused as to what happened her in that it was significantly lighter from SmugMug vs. what I did on profiled printers/display.
Did you email SM (Andy) about this problem/concern?
Send them a note at the help desk and they will get you an answer.
Do you know if it is possible to set prices differently in each gallery?
Yes,
You can customize pricing infinately (almost).
I have pricing for sports photographs and portraite work - just apply them to individual galleries as I am setting up each gallery. You can also go in and change individual image prices in a gallery if necessary.
I was just typing up a message to SM looking for an answer to this. I only have on gallery so far so I was not able to test this out. I am very happy to know this because my first event gallery must have it's pricing set low as I have already been paid for my services.
I appreciate your help from the git'go.
Do you know anything about the 50% discount coupon??
My site is on SM and I must say their customer service is outstanding. I don't know much HTML but they've really helped me a lot with my site. They are not perfect of course, but for $150 a year, they do a great job.
www.focalpointphoto.smugmug.com
Amen! on their Customer Service. What a concept. It's unfortunate that very few other business enterprises take this to the level that they do.
So far I've been extremely pleased with all that they offer save for some glitch that they have with the pricing set up. Regardless, they are extremely helpful in every respect which goes a very long way in this day and age.
By the way, you can also create your own URL at a site like Yahoo, and then redirect it to your SmugMug site. In this way your clients just have to remember your name. The only hitch is that you have to type in www at the beginning of the URL or it may not be found. At the same time, I have not had the time to customize my page, so anyone who wants to take on that task for me, just let me know . I am very happy with their service, and love those "Who Loves Ya Baby?" emails announcing new money in my account. I've probably sold over 5000 prints, and only one customer issue with print quality which was resolved in 3 days. There customer service is really outstanding.

I really don't advertise it. Most of the work I do is for clients, and I do all of my print fulillment through the site. I do a lot of school based stuff, and give the url out during those shoots. As this is part time right now, I have not put the time into customizing. I am hoping to build this into a retirement business at some point in time. Right now my day job is taking up too much time. Aint't it always like that?
Besides setting the right click to off it's a good Idea to water mark images as they can still be captures with a screen capture program.
As for people knowing what smugmug charges you to print compared for what you charge for a print, I don't mind. If they have their own image and want to upload it to Smugmug and print it at smugmug prices then good for them. If they want an image I took with some very expensive equipment on my time then they have to pay the price I'm asking. It's only fair and I can't say anyone has ever complained.

Chas,
Thanks for the link to your SM site. You do some very good work.
I took a look at your pricing and have a question for you.
After many tries and several emails to the SM help desk, I still cannot get anything beyond the Standard pricing options to show up save for the very first 4x6 Postcard option. I am really wanting to be able to offer image downloads for sale, but cannot get these to show up even though I have set these prices. The SM guy I was working with claimed that they have a software glitch that prevents this from working.
Something is not right. I just went in to my SM site and applied pricing to a test gallery and everything is working fine. Prints and digital download prices all took fine.
Look here if you want, but ignore the crappy photos - this was a gallery to test the new GPS on the camera
I'll also add that I know ZIP, ZERO, NADA, NOTHING about coding and I was able to customize my site with the help of the great fold in DGrin. This is actually the 2nd time I redone my site. I just did all my customizing over the winter months when I was not shooting as much and had a bit more time on my hands. My opinion on customizing is to have a good idea of what you want the final site to look like and only take on one change at a time. Do that chanmge completely and then move on to the next. if you try and do too many changes at once, your will get frustrated and end up doing everything half a$$ed.
I just took a look at your test gallery and saw no digital download offerings. Was there supposed to digital downloads in that price list?? The last item I saw in your price list was under Other Sizes/ 20x20 (Lustre). Maybe I read your post incorrectly.
