p.1 #1 · Help on actions...

I recently did some outdoor portraits where the models want the final results to emulate:

1. 50's style pin-up colors and look
2. 60's style color photos
3. 70's style color photos

So, my question is, does anyone know of actions or a series of Photoshop edits that can help me achieve each of these effects? Free would be awesome but I would be willing to pay for some if they really met my needs...

Thanks!

For good results you will need to hand process , actions are not a good choice in this scenario because portraits cant be lumped with the exact same editing without some or most looking very cheesy , you might use an action for a starting point base edit , hard to say what type of editing without seeing them .

airbrushing in Photoshop is what I use for this era.

Wow! that is great...

What does using the #100 airbrush mean? I have PS v7 and have not used this type technique ( I don't believe) before.

NIK 3.0 is a must-have plugin and under the cross process section, you will find some options to get you that vintage look for each of these time periods. You can also use a mix of the "old photo" look and the cross process and add a touch of the bleach bypass.

This will save you a tremendous amount of time if you don't want to do this by hand and using layer masks, etc... Happy editing.

Saturn, if you look in your brush palettes you will see the feathered 'airbrushes' that are there by default, there are several, I use the #100 and airbrush directly over the image using varying opacities. It is all done by hand and I would highly recommend a wacom tablet.
