or 1/2 a dollar US, as of 5/22/08. Using this shot as a place holder for now, hoping to come up with something better. Taken tonight using an old Vivitar macro teleconverter w/ a Nikon 50mm f1.8 lens. Thanks for looking.

Nick: Your picture doesn't show for me, just a (text) link that brings the image up in a separate tab.

Cheers,
Rich

Thanks Rich,
I finally figured out what I was doing wrong. How quickly we forget, miss posting for a week and I can't remember how to do it.

This is a really graphic, sharp, and well lit image Nick! That macro teleconverter worked superbly.
I like your title as well

Hi Nick,

Excellent capture of detail in this shot and the lighting is wonderful. Very nicely done. Good luck this week.

Great detail, and the black background really sets it off, Nick. Nice work!--Frank

As so many have commented, great lighting to bring out the detail, And the black background provides an ideal contrast to the coin. I'm not keen on the title, though. IMHO, drawing attention to the fact that the US$ has slipped ever so slightly below its Canadian counterpart detracts from a strong image. All the best.

Hello Rich,
Thanks for your comments. I did not mean to offend anyone with the title, especially Canadians. If I have, I apologize. Anyone from Canada should be rightly proud that their goverment and economic policies have resulted in a stable currency. The huge US deficit has devalued our currency and help create record oil prices. The title was just my way of venting some frustration with the situation here in the US.
Thanks,
-Nick

Nick:

No offense taken at all. Indeed, your frustration means I don't have to worry about exchange rates anymore when making the occasional purchase from B&H. My comment (and it is a only a minor one) is that seeing that larger-than-life half dollar on the screen conveys a real feeling of strength that is slightly diminished by the title. It's still a great entry though, and I don't mean to belabour the point.

All the best,
Rich

Great sharp macro, Nick, my friend! Bravo!

I'm out of town on a little concert tour to Colorado this week so I won't be posting a shot.

Fond regards,

Endre
