One of the best small "digital point and shot" units I’ve ever owned. At almost $1000 when they were introduced, you couldn’t get anything close to this “build” quality, optics, and features.
The PowerShot Pro1 an excellent compact digital camera with a number of features only available on Canon’s higher end DSLR’s. It has an 8.0 megapixel CCD, retractable 7x “L”-series zoom lens, hybrid AF system and Micro Ultrasonic Motor. The PowerShot Pro’s 8.0 megapixel CCD allows for high-resolution printing up to A2. The “L”-series zoom lens is the 35mm equivalent of a 28 - 200mm, f/2.4 - f/3.5. The lens construction includes fluorite and UD elements to significantly reduce chromatic aberration. The PowerShot Pro1 features a new hybrid AF system, which combined with the Micro Ultrasonic Motor (USM), provides quick, quiet, and extremely sharp auto-focusing.
The combination of Canon's unique state of the art technology, high-performance DIGIC processor, and image Rendering technology ensures every shot is represented faithfully. Because every shot is different, Canon has made the PowerShot Pro1 incredibly versatile. There are 12 shooting modes - from Manual to Auto (including 2 custom settings), for greater creative control. There's a choice of two color space formats - standard sRGB and Adobe RGB. With a choice of 3 compression rates and 5 resolutions, plus RAW mode for maximum image data recording, you have a total of 16 modes for increased recording flexibility. The Powers hot Pro 1 puts ergonomics first and foremost - placing controls exactly where they should be. Its 2.0" vari-angle LCD is bright, easy to read and tilts to just the position you need. The tough, black body fits comfortably in your hand, while a large grip lets you hold the camera steady as you compose your shots.
I bought this little unit as a “pocket camera” for scouting locations and preview work, or as an alternate when I really didn’t want to take out a full sized DSLR because of the weight, time of day…or a “sore shoulder” from carrying the big unit around all day.
It probably hasn’t had more that 5-600 shots through it. Since I did location-scouting work with it, I also have a large assortment of filters for it. They all fit the lens 58mm adapter that Canon made for this camera.
These include:
Heliopan 58mm “slim” circular polarizer
B&W UV
B&W Skylight
Tiffin CR Rotating circular polarizer
B&W Red Enhancer
And the wireless remote (WL-DC100)
The camera and optics are mint. The body has no nicks, scratches or rubbed paint marks… about 9.8 out of 10.
