I had hoped to shoot this shot for several days, but the weather didn't cooperate. I am glad it finally cleared up today. Comments and critiques are most welcome.

Oh, I do enjoy it when the weather doesn't cooperate, such lovely, subdued light.
Is that water spray running along the same angle as the green leaves? That's really neat! The rich blue and yellow though are splitting my attention though, taking away a bit from those green lines. I'm really curious about that red bit down in the right corner. Is that a beetle?

That light is just beautiful.
Hi Tamara,
I appreciate your kind words and thoughtful analysis. It is a beetle in the corner. I didn't realize it was there when I took the shot--kind of a bonus bug as the macro shooter call it. You are also right about the water spraying along the angle of the leaves--that was intentional. I also agree about split attention being a concern in this shot, but I haven't found a good way to fix it. You need the flower bed to see the watering, but it makes for a bit of clutter. Maybe I will try a different crop. Thanks again for your help.
Nice shot Steve, I think I would of focused on the flowers instead of the other plants sense it is your title, the flowers look out of focus but everything else looks sharp and in focus unless my screen needs reset. Good luck
LIke the shot! I agree about the focus being on the flowers, but I do like that we can see the water in motion, too. The beetle is great (I've found a few bonus critters in images before, always neat).

Hi Norm,
Thanks for your helpful comments and your kind words. I am having trouble getting the focus right in the shot. I agree the flowers should be in better focus, so I have tried a slightly different crop to incorporate other flowers that are in better focus. These were the ones I was focussing on, but selecting these doesn't allow me to show the moment in the water. I think I still like this new shot better.

Hi Bev,
Thanks for your encouraging words. I can't seem to get a crop that both has movement in the water and has proper focus on the flowers. In the end I went for the focus on the flowers. I have several other shots, so I may try again, but I appreciate your taking the time to comment.
Thanks for your encouraging words and congratulations on making the finals. My son suggested I capture my wife walking the dog, but I couldn't find a way to make it interesting. Your shot is spectacular.
