i use to use them, got to be too much crap to carry around all day. SO now we use them at the reception only. Throw them up on stands blasting into the ceilling and triggered using the q.

well worth the money. but keep in mind if your going to use it on camera you need to get a bracket, a cord, battery pack and a way to carry the battery pack and any other accessories you may need. Sure the flash is $750 but when it is all said and done dont be surprised if you pay more than A GRAND FOR ONE.

Chris DM uses them and often posts his set-up when this question is posed. He gets some very nice looking images w/ 2 Q-flashes and softboxes.

That setups looks awesome! I think I would like that much better than lugging my bees around. I like those nice small soft boxes too.

Love my quantums..use them almost every wedding. I use to use them with the soft boxes but switched to shooting through umbrellas because they are quicker to set up and tear down for formals and give me a larger light sorce for softer shadows. Use them also on the dance floor for !st dance set at 45 degree angles to the center on different frequencies so I can fire depending upon subject location. For the reception I use the 580 on bracket or off camera fired by a PW allows me to travel light and fast.

I put in my order for ChrisDM's exact setup today.

Not going to hesitate bringing those things along.

Hi Brandon,
Could you post the components part numbers. I would like to get a similar system.

Thank you

Honestly, you would do just as well to look for some older T2 and T2D QFlashes. It will save you hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Not many people shoot Qflashes remotely unless they are in manual. In those situations there is no difference between a T, T2 or T5.

I shoot with three T2 series flashes with Quantum Turbo batteries and a variety of softboxes and light modifiers. While the softboxes are nice, they are hardly required for good photography. The diffuser that comes with the kit works really well as a softbox. I also shoot a lot of bare bulb.

My kit:
1) Three T2 series Qflashes
2) Three Quantum Turbo batteries
3) Two small softboxes
4) three light stand adapters for umbrellas
5) Three light stands
6) Three pocket wizards and a receiver

I spent much less money for the same quality.
