p.1 #1 · #291: Crap, Not Again!?

Had very little time this week; so I tried something simple. I know the lighting's not perfect but I did the best I could. I'm in the process of spring cleaning and my home is a mess.

C&C Please,
Chad

Hi Chad,

I really like this shot. It shows how much we just expect things to be and provides a nice challenge to that. I think the lighting is actually quite nice, but I would fix the little reflections in you glasses which should be pretty easy to clean up. Good luck this week.

Chad,
I like this creative shot! Great idea.
Your facial expression does seem a bit calm for what is happening, though.
Good luck!!

Thanks for the C&C. I made a couple of adjustments based on your comments.

I thought the expression, along with the title, gave off a more annoyed feeling. I wanted to give the impression that this sort of distortion of the laws of physics was a common occurence in my home. It's a real pain having to wipe grape juice off of the ceiling, that's why I used water for this shot

See ya,
Chad

Okay, now that grape juice image got a laugh!

Nice job on this, I really like your take on the theme.

Very, very well done, Chad! When you have a moment, could you please give us a little rundown on how you achieved this (assuming that you aren't living on the Space Station). I imagine that your house would really be a mess if all the laws of physics are violated on a routine basis.

All the best,

Endre

Chad:

How did you get all that water pouring down from above to go into the bottle?

Seriously, this is very clever and well executed. The facial expression cinches it. Best of luck!

Thanks guys for all the positive feedback.

As far as the set-up went: It's a composite of two shots lit with candles and a mirror. First shot was of me, bottle and glass. Second shot was of the bottle pouring water. I simply cloned the bottle lip and water from the second shot, flipped and mirrored it, and then pasted it onto the first shot. The only needed PP after that was for brightness/contrast adjustments. With a little planning on the bottle positioning and lighting for both shots I was able to piece this together quickly.

I'm learning that 10 minutes of planning will save hours of post-processing.

Thanks again for the interest,
Chad
