New image, thanks to everyone who commented on the first one.

http://i.pbase.com/o6/46/667946/1/95939889.J7OEKIz9.Gloom2copy.jpg

I think I was driving home Friday afternoon when I thought of this, I'm not sure if it's a result of the experimental music I was listening to or the falling snow that was making the roads treacherous. Maybe both.
Five image composite (hand, body, rain, background and noise.)
D50 with 50mm1.8 mounted.

Comments and critiques always welcome.

Nice shot, Jason! I like the sepia/ b & w a lot. My only problem is that while we know that cranking up an amp that high will create distortion (to say nothing of blown-out eardrums) the photo itself doesn' quite convey it. Certainly nice work, though.

All the best,

Endre

Hi Jason,

Beautiful shot. Very nice lighting and I really like the conversion. Your amp doesn't go to 11? (I hope enough people have seen Spinal Tap to get that reference.) I guess overdrive is the next best thing. Have you thought about distorting the grill of the speaker to visually represent distortion? I don't think it would be that hard. Just a thought. Good luck this week.

Thanks Endre, the tones came from a custom sepia curve tone and a slight re-addition of the original color, which was very warm to begin with, being shot in jepg (oops.) with a daylight color balance and tungsten lights.
To be honest, I wasn't to happy with the way this turned out. Unfortunately, I'm just back from a whirlwind weekend and haven't had time to adjust anything. I have a couple other idea's I'd like to try out as well. Stay tuned

"Well couldn't they just make 10 louder?"
"I don't think you get it do you, these, go up to 11."

Thanks Steve, I almost did change the dial to go to 11. I just might yet do that... :P

Thanks Bev, the weekend was pretty crazy, I was running sound for a kids choir musical production, and between that and some awful weather here the last few days made for a fairly stressful/busy two days.

This is really interesting. The textures do keep a viewer staring. Well done!

Hi Jason,

Very cool shot. I love the color and the mood you have set with this. The hand is a great idea and really make the shot for me. I think this one evokes a much stronger message than the first one.

Best wishes,

Steve S.

Funny you should mention message, I was going to try and shoot something happy and message free this week, just a pretty picture, as it were. Then I got this idea in my head, and had to shoot it. So much for resolve.
Thanks for stopping by Steve!
