elo guys, these pictures are taken at noon in the back yard. All I got to work with is the fence and the grass. Comments and Critiques are WELCOME, give it to me straight, im a big boi.

1) left arm a little too hot, but not too bad in my opinion.

2) why did i light the fence? because it's dull otherwise

3) people say harsh sunlight = bad, shadows = bad blah blah blah whatever.

Hey Quan. Not to be too harsh but I really did not enjoy this set. I have seen much nicer work from you in the past and this just isn't up to Quan-par. The only photo I like is #8 but I find the fabric bunching up on their pinky fingers kind of distracting.

Just wondering what lens you are using right now for these photos? I think there is too much DOF in these photos to work. Especially in #2 it is much too busy for me to concentrate on the couple. For that photo since you use flash you may have been constricted by your flash sync speed but for these types of photos I prefer the dreamy creamy bokeh displaying lens instead.

PS: Shooting at noon is tough. You sure have balls.

EDIT:
I KNEW I was right! I took a quick look at your website and I saw some much better stuff from you. I ESPECIALLY love the way you make your video photo slide shows! Awesome stuff I love it.

I'm with Spencer...Quan your work is normally of a much higher standard than this and I'm really struggling with this set.

You wanted honest feedback, so here goes:
#1 - She looks very sad. The arm as you pointed out is extremely hot and very distracting.
#2 - Looks like it was taken at night and you've caught a couple making out in the back corner of a yard at a party. The pose is very awkward looking and her exposed shins are grabbing attention as are the trees and the fence. Very busy and unattractively lit.
#3 - She looks sad again, like he's consoling her. People say shadows are back for a reason. Her overexposed face and the top left corner make this not so good, but the pattern of the shade is actually not that bad. It's different.
#4 - One of the best shots in the set
#5 - Amazing how well you've blocked the sun, but you've gone way too far for my liking. Looks like a shot that someone took with a point and shoot at a party.
#6 - Nice, would have been even better if he had a stick too.
#7 - Best shot in the set.
#8 - Good but for the bunched fabric as Spencer pointed out.
The WB seems a bit cool on some of these, or there is a funny colour cast going on...not sure what it is. Actually, could it be the green of the grass reflecting up in the bright midday sun? I think it might be!

Keep pushing the boundaries and breaking the rule mate!!
