Heres a few shots from a youth hockey game I shot today during a tournament. I shot 13 games yesterday and 5 today, this being the last (they stayed on my memory card). C&C welcome and appreciated, shot with Mark II, 300 2.8 @ f/3.5-4 ISO 200 1/250.
Very nice, obviously either a very bright rink (unlikely) or you strobed/flashed, in which case you got the white balance and colors dead on! I love being able to see the faces.
Scott,
These are some of the best-lit youth hockey pictures I have seen in a long time. Congrats.
Did you use the 11 inch reflectors? Do you put a mesh of any kind over the reflectors to stop pucks. I lost a tube once from a puck. It was freaky, but it happened. How high are your reflectors? 13 feet?
Gary,
I appreciate it, I used the 7 inch reflectors, but the roof of the arena is silver reflective insulation type material, which really helped when bouncing. No mesh over the reflectors, but thatd a good idea- the 300 2.8 I was using no longer had a hood because it took a puck.
Nice work. Clean, sharp, well lit. My only comment would be some of them seem to be cropped pretty tight (1 and 3) and I would have gone horizontal on 5. Sometimes is nice to give the players somewhere in frame to skate to.
