Well, I've changed a bit since I first posted in this thread. Right now, for cameras that are for me alone now (my wife uses the A75 now...I haven't touched it in a LONG time):
Canon 1Ds Mark II
Canon 30D
Canon 10D (but it's for sale, as I don't use it now)
Canon Rebel G (which I'll probably sell since I don't use it)
Canon G9
Minolta X-370. I prefer to use this when I shoot film, believe it or not.
For me:
Canon 5DII
Canon 5D
Canon F1 (don't use film anymore)
Olympus 790 (waterproof - handy for "everywhere" use)
Cell phone (never use)
For my kid's:
Canon 20D (only used by my 16 y/o son)
Canon A640 (used mainly by my 15 y/o daughter & 8 y/o son)
Bunch of cell phones (my daughter uses hers a lot)
Nintendo DSi (my young son is having fun with this, sort of photoshopping on the go)
1) It's great that this thread is still being fed once in a while.
2) I don't know how you guys do it, keeping all the old gear around: I usually sell mine in disgust once newer, better stuff comes along (consumerism, meet me! ) But even so, one has to have room for all that old cr*p, and every time one moves, well - seems like selling it is so much more convenient...
Also there is a film body somewhere in the house and the cell-phone camera.
I would normally have just two DSLRs, but I need more when shooting events. I don't keep what I don't use. The 30D is there for when I want a small inexpensive body to carry around.
I have three, a 5D, an XT and an Olympus 3030 from 2000 that I still use on rare occasions. My cellphone also has a camera function but I don't consider it as a camera.
I'm continually surprised that out in the general population the number of people whose only camera is their cellphone.
Canon Digital - 1DMk2, 20D, D60, A710 and PS Pro90
Film Canon EOS 1N, F1N and EF
Film other Mamyia RB67 Pro, RB67 ProSD, Pentax 645, Yashica A and Werra 1
What would be the consensus on what constitutes a "Pro" body? If I were a (full-time) pro, I'd consider all my bodies to be such. As I'm not, I'd say I was an amateur, but no longer, perhaps, a dilettante, but someone of much greater authority already said that. Decisions, decisions ...
