took these in January. Driving down we were running from an incredible storm but it fizzled out just about as it was approaching. This left us with a some gorgeous clouds and a stunningly beautiful 70 degree day. Of course the brother had to be somewhere and I couldn't stay for sunset which was incredible as we were driving back north.
I apologize if these are a little big. let me know if that's the case
You have to work up to love you know.... how about starting out with liking?
These are some really cool clouds! My favorite is #2, a cool composition, and for processing it is about 90% there. I think the contrast is a little too high in the rocks, so maybe back down with that, tame a couple of the highlights in the rocks, maybe adjust the midtones down a bit, and you will have a super sweet shot!
#3 is also interesting. Now the last one I have to ask you what you were thinking Remember it's the rule of thirds that should govern your compositions, but in that one I think you were using a rule of tenths or something... Was it the interplay between the contrails and the power lines? I hope so... But even if that was what caught your eye, don't forget you need some ground in the foreground... The little sliver you caught doesn't do it.
And next time, make sure you are driving and hold on to the keys next time instead of your brother... with those clouds I can't believe you missed the sunset!
Hey Steve-
The skies look great, but the images to me are just lacking in a singular focal point to lead you into the image. The third one is pretty close, though. If I had to choose that one would be my favorite.
