Beautiful shots. We see these guys a lot, but find them challenging because of the wide contrast, and the fact that they spend so much time hopping around the bushes, in the shade etc. One of my favorite "locals". You nailed em.

thanks Bonnis, my folks have these towees all over their garden ususally hunkered down in the hedges but come spring they are preening and singing in the open, a short window of opportunity
The Spotted Towhees here in coastal LA never seem to get out of the tangly underbrush. These are just all-around super, Laura. I'll be heading down to Sierra Vista next week so thanks for what I hope to be are previews of the possibilities...
