These two shots were taken 4 years apart. One with a D100 and a cheap lens I’ve had since the late 1980's, and the other last summer with a D200 and the 28-70 f/2.8. Can you tell which is which?

Yes. For some reason, I never ever think of stripping the exif data before posting shots with this kind of question. I fully deserve the answers I get.
