I prefer the second and agree it may make a nice B&W. I might like the first better if the branches were not cut off and there was some space around the trees. Then again I wasn't there and don't know what it looks like.

What grabbed my eyes there was a pure blank blue sky with nothing in it. Naked branches seem to match.

I see what you mean. The framming was indeed difficult. In retrospect, I should have taken a frame-bracketing series. I saw trees then I saw branches. I went for branches.
