Nice close ups on the bitterns. The colors of the bird really go well with the grass. I'd try to get rid of that stem going up through his beak as it makes me think of a puppet. The raccoon shot is nice too. I'd like to see it with just a crop of the one in the hole.

Tim, that's a very cute Raccoon image, but the Bittern images are fantastic. I saw one in Ridgefield last year and that was the last one I've seen. You did good.
Thanks for the kind words Maggie. That was my first trip down there. I still have many to process, I was able to get a pretty keeper ratio so more to come.

I do agree about the stem, I'll have to get rid of that. I hadn't thought of it as a puppet but now that you mentiion it....
Thanks, Tim
For you and Socrate. I obviosly missed the focus, that was the reason for not cropping originally. Thanks for the suggestions guys.

#2 is awesome Tim. Good job. (And I like the cropped Raccoon too.) (Don't know how I missed this thread earlier either.)
I'm headed to Ridgefield NWR this weekend. (Though I'm without my telephoto as it's being calibrated.) Thinking of renting something to take instead...

Thanks for the comment. That silly raccoon, I stuck that in there just for fun and it has a life its own! I'll PM you about RNWR.

I didn't miss this thread but I don't see my comment either. hmmm maybe I got side tracked after making my comment and forgot to hit the "Send Reply" Button......
Anyhow, I really like the Bittern shots. The head popping out of the grass really pops. There isn't a lot of difference in colors between the brown grass and the Bittern. Makes the shot a bit interesting and I do like them.
To bad on the missed focus on the raccoon shot. Very cute with the bandit surrounded by green moss.

Thanks for the comment Anthony. I do like the bittern a lot. I may even print the 2nd one. The raccoon, I wasn't even going to photograph it but my wife asked me to. I should have taken a bit more time!
