If the answer to this is in the archives, I couldn't find it.
I bought an item on ebay that showed up defective. The seller has stopped communicating
so I guess it's time to get my money back.
Should I even contact PP or just go straight to my CC company? Either way, will PP freeze my account until it is settled?

It was only a matter of time until my luck ran out
If the buyer was a scammer, it's not going to matter. I would first go to Paypal, you have a month until your CC bill shows up. If PP is not helpful then do the chargeback.
