I heard a loud honking early this morning and went outside and found this East African Gray Crowned Crane on my chimney. Since this is the national bird of Uganda and I live in the SF bay area this seemed strange. A quick search on the internet - turns out this bird escaped from a collector a year and a half ago and has been living free ever since. Still, not an everyday kind of sighting around here!
