Thank you for stopping by. I would like to get better at flight shots, but usually I get the south end of a northbound duck/bird. This was my best opportunity by far to get something decent in flight. I am glad you liked the portraits. I was thrilled with them.
Excellent shots, Cris, and beautiful images, all properly exposed, with sharp detail, very nice color and great poses. 5, 6, 8, and 10 are my favorites, but I enjoyed them all. Well done.

These are great Cris, I only wish there were feet on those amazing closeups, but then again you've got ALOT of bird there. Super job on the details and poses.

This was such a neat day for me, because the wildlife stayed pretty close by. Sure made it more fun than when they all go the other direction. I'll bet it was kind of like BdA in that respect.

It's been about 2 years since you wrote me a PM when I needed some advice as a novice birder photographer. I think I've come a long ways since then, and am enjoying it immensely, and still trying to do better. Seems like the more I know, the more I know I don't know!!!
I have some more shots to process - maybe I'll find some more with feet!!! I was delighted with the day.
Cris, A beautiful set! The cranes were super, I really liked the close-ups. They are fun to watch on ice, last year I froze for a couple hours watching a half dozen go back and forth across a drainage ditch with less than a foot of water in it but with a thin crust of ice that the cranes walked on, walked thru and slid on with wings spread for balance. Filled up 2 gigs of shots with terrible light but are still some of my favorite shots because of the antics of the group. The mallards are super also with the emerging one being my favorite. Steve W
Good to hear from you. Definitely a loner sandhill. My birder friends who are more knowledgeable than me, seem to think this is a pretty rare event. And it's been quite cold here (single digit & below 0 with the wind chill) at times since he's been here. Thanks for stopping.
