Anyone have any recommendations for lens rental places? The ones I've heard of are rentglass.com and lensrentals.com. Are there others? Is there one well trusted source?
I've rented from both lensrentals.com and thelensdepot.com and recommend both highly. Both are run by super guys with very high customer service ethics. Not sure where you are located but The Lens Depot is in Maitland, FL, just North of Orlando and will do local pick-up and drop-off.
You can't go wrong with either of these companies.
I've rented from lensprotogo.com and they are good, they ship the lenses in pelican cases and there prices seem decent. All of there prices include shipping to you and back, you can also get insurance which is only a couple bucks more, kinda worth it. There in Massachusetts.
Lens rentals .com - best price, easy to work with, great customer service. They are my first choice.
If I need something on shorter notice, I use Glazer's in Seattle. They are my second choice. Great customer service and they also ship. They are expensive though.
rentglass and lensrentals are popular but that's the downside... the lens you want is often not available right away. I try to rent local (especially for the "half price fridays" or "one day weekends").
If there is a Calumet camera store near you, they provide lens rental service at a reasonable price. I've used them on several occasions and the transactions went smoothly.
