p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Flying projectile pass through a falling droplet.

This is the first test of the new setup. A flying projectile go through a falling droplet. Multiple timings at a resolution of 100 usec are need to capture the images. This is only a technical test into preparation of a hole new setup for the new waterfigures of 2008.

Frans you are way over the top my friend! I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with

And I thought that it was the sound barrier being broken! Technical marvel here my friend.

Haha, a litlle patience! The new droplet module is finish. Only the final timing must by done but it works to put droplets at exact programmed timings. It works only for 2 successive droplets no more! This is oké for my purpose. I have first to replace a FET driver. For the projectiel I first used 300V/20A but this was to high for the device. Now i have put 150V/10A and this works as you can see on the pictures.

Next I will make 2 falling droplets at 50 msec delay so that the second droplet fall on the first impact and that together with my waterfigures.

Timing must be precise! Here a look at the present setup:

The dropper is finished to:

Here the details how the projectiel is entered into the magnet:

As you can see, the dropper is controlled via a speaker. The waveform and an exact timing give you a droplet at programmed time between first and second droplet. I've not finished all the drivers but this will be done into the next day's. The setup d'nt show the speaker for the waterfigures on the bottem into this photo. Also other tools can be added for soap bubbles or other effects.

A new setup for the lighting (color programmed) is planned in the near future.

Great work, Frans! The solenoid-fired projectile and sonic-driven dropper are innovative and very well executed.

Thanks Timm, but I've have a good time without money! You know, dreaming is so delicious, and sometimes realise a new project make me happy. I've much time and like to share this little information.
Frans.

Thanks Andy!

This morning, I added a soap bubble together with the projectile and the droplet:

But I've again a defect IRF740 FET due to the high induction of the magnet. I need to add a protection circuit to withstand at 400V.

Maybe some smoke would add to the spectacular photography!

Wonderful techno stuff!

Thanks bsteels, bdickers and RT v Genugten!

The idea to add some smoke is not bad. I will test it!

This shots seems to be difficult to make but after setting all the timings to the correct value, almost the shots are useful.

I just finished the repair of the IRF740 fets and have put a snubber circuit to limit the high voltage during switching. So new pictures can be taken again.

I have one word...unbelievable. Shots like these make me remember there is always something new to be tried with incredible results, and some people's innovation and tehnological skill is way higher than mine congrats!

Thanks Patrick.
Big problem is to find new things. I've worked 14 day's on the mechanical parts for this projectile. Taking the photo's need only a few hours. So this setup is over. 14 day's work for only 5 pictures.... But maybe I find a new way to use this mechanical parts into another combination or variation. I'm dreaming and dreaming day and night

Hans - some of your stuff is so incredible !

Ik zou het wel eens 'live' in actie willen zien. Zijn er open-deur dagen gepland ?
