"confirmation??"...as in questionable. As for the specs, I didn't write them up, its a direct copy and paste so I have no idea why there is a .8 mp downgrade. And the D300 is the 7D's rival (according to the post). Being a canon fan, I would hope its a better body.

Is that really important to you?
I 2nd this. Why do we care how it compares against the D300? Why is it so important to have bragging rights? Why don't we just make photos rather than continuously pixel peeping, putting down Nikon, arguing about what camera is best etc... As a thought, can you show me how these 7D specs will allow you to make better photos?

That's the problem with today's photographer...they are fans first and photographers second. I'm a Vancouver Canucks fan. I'm a Green Bay Packers fan. I'm a St. Louis Cardinals fan. I am a Canon equipment photographer...but I am not a Canon fan.
It has nothing to do with pixel peeping or bragging rights more so I wouldn't want to have to switch over from Canon to Nikon after all of these years if Nikon starts making lower priced "better" bodies. It has nothing to do with better photos, rather everything to do with breaking the bank.

It's only a problem if you're not a shareholder
And what is wrong with being a fan of certain equipment? I PERSONALLY like the ergonomics of the canon EOS bodies, does that hurt your feelings? I also personally think that Canon makes better glass. You know having an opinion about certain things doesn't mean its a wrong one because others disagree. This post was only to share information that dpreview had posted. It was not posted as a canon press release statement.
I honestly don't think that your opinion has hurt anyone's feelings. You just came on pretty strong with a "brand wars" slant in your comments. Many of the folks here are talented photographers so images add validity to a person’s opinion.
Nowadays it seems like every 14 year old with an internet connection is an expert, so many of us react accordingly to posts that seem a bit too “fanboy”. I’m certainly not accusing you of this, but merely explaining a mindset that some of us have. FM is good place and we would hate to see it go the way of so many other sites.
Show us what kind of images you capture and you will gain respect and I’m sure that you will fit right in!

Well said Marc.
Now that it is so easy to post ones work, may be fred should make it a pre requisite that any one wishing to post, publishes on line. (And I will qualify that by warning anyone that mine is a glorified travelogue, not a centre of excellence!)

Certainly I am not an expert nor do I claim to be one, on the other hand I know what I know...and what I know is that I prefer Canon equipment over Nikon for the reasons listed above. This is similar to why some people choose a BMW over a Mercedes or vice versa, they are both well designed automobiles and they get you from place to place and that can't be argued. What can is the taste of the consumer hence the statement "to each ones own". As for this post being too "fanboy", I was unaware that some would take to heart such a simple statement. Nowhere did I say "down with Nikon, the evil regime!" so I don't think getting overly defensive is necessary. And since when does respect form based on the type of images one makes...shouldn't all who post on FM receive the same amount of respect? Or did I miss the fine print when I registered claiming this forum is for the elite of the elite, and only those who enter can gain respect from others based on their uber skills?
All in all, this was posted in order to share information. Whether that information was correct I did not say, it was more of a conversational piece rather than a proclamation of the 7D specs. So if you disagree with the referred information originally posted on dpreview that is between you and the provided info, not me.
