I recently purchased a new Macpro system with 23" display. What are the best color calibration tools/software for the mac? I want to get it right.

I use the Eye One Display 2 to calibrate my iMac and Macbook... it works fast, easy and accurate. The Eye One also comes in a more extended (pro) version at a higher cost. Of course these devices also can be used on a Windows PC.
