I am helping my uncle set up a color corrected working enviroment. He is using dual monitors with a Nvidea G-Force FX 5200 video card. Operating system is Windows XP 64bit. Is it possible to profile (Monaco Optix XR) both monitors or only one? Thanks!
Depends on the video card. I think most of us profile one monitor & use that for the image window & use the second as a tools window, which doesn't really need to be profiled. At least that's how I'm working.

Agreed. One of the issues is that many "dual" cards actually share the LUT (color look up table). With that thought in mind I usually profile my 2nd monitor first and then finish with my primary so that it has the latest LUT info. I have noticed that the secondary is close but not up to the caliber of the primary after cal. YMMV.

Jon
I don't think there is possibility we could profile dual monitor in windows. the color management profile is shared by two monitors and you can only select one particular profile for both. that 's what I am experiencing. I have one 2407WFP and one LCD2690WUXi, but I can only calibrate and profile my main monitor(LCD2690WUXi).
In Vista you can. That said, I have two Eizo CG241Ws that have their own individual LUTs calibrated by the Eizo ColorNavigator software + DTP94 colorimeter and the Vista profile is an empty dummy, problem solved.

What are you using? EyeOne D2 generates a seperate profile for each monitor.

Jon, that's a good technique. I tried to go back and calibrate, but not profile, the second monitor before I read your response. It started to change the 1st monitor, so we just calibrated it by hand with a little bit of success. He just wanted a better match even though only the tools palate was on the second monitor.
I appreciate everyone's responses. They have been most helpful!

Not at my computer right now so I can't check - but I think the E1D2 has an option to just generate a profile and not mess with the LUT. I've been meaning to try that one myself.
Good luck!

IIRC, Microsoft released a powertoy utility to allow that in XP. But, you also must have a video card that can hold a separate LUT for each monitor--not something most of us have. These stumbling blocks is why most use the setup I first mentioned.
