p.1 #1 · How does one find a photographer to assist
Hello Everyone,
Recently I came across an ad for an assistant on Craigslist from a photographer that I was familiar with. Naturally, I was excited at the thought of assisting this photog. So I spent the better part of an hour writing up a long 600 word e-mail / cover letter. In the end, I received a reply saying "Hi, I'm looking for someone far more jr just to help out. Thanks though."
...Ouch, and thanks for the veiled compliment?
The point of me creating this thread was to find out if there was a more practical way of finding photographers to assist. One that doesn't necessarily require me paying $$$ to join CAPIC or PPO or any sort of Photography Association. I'm nearly broke at this point after having been looking for employment for several months.
Also, just a bit of general info; I live in Toronto, ON. Currently own a 30D and a Sony F828, I rent lenses and lighting for each assignment.
If anyone has any leads they'd be willing to share that would be great.
