New sports reporter out of college (Utah) asked me about my photos and how long I would stay during the game to take photos.
Me: Your editor only wants 5-6 photos from me, so I try to get good ones by the break if not before.
Reporter: So you could stay for just 5 or 10 minutes.
Me: Technically yes. However, I want to submit photos with at least one member from both teams engaged in an athletic action with the ball, with their eyes and face viewable by the camera with expressions that grab your attention. Plus, I want 5 to 6 different photos with different home team players. I take about 500-900 photos in order to get those 6 photos.
Reporter: Oh!

Late night weather last night was 3-5" of snow and heavy winds. Woke up to yes the 3-5" of snow and wind BUT the pavement was so warm(even though daytime temps have been in the 30-40's), the snow didn't stick! Hooray! No driveway to shovel(150ft+).

It is very pretty out with the snow stuck on everything that has a place to stick!

Just put my Inspire 2 gear up for sale in case anyone has an interest in starting up a new venture..............I hear that you can make a small fortune shooting for realtors...........you just have to start out with a large one.............

I may get an Inspire 3 outfit, or a back up Mavic Pro. The I2 should sell pretty quickly considering all of the extras that I have, and the fact that the same set up in an I3 will cost about $25K.

Got another Permian Basin assignment coming up. This one is a two week frac assignment. They got 7" of snow a week ago, that would have made for some incredible images.The client has so much work for me that they are suggesting I buy a motor coach and tow the Landcruiser behind it. Hotels are somewhat scarce in The Permian and operations are 24/7, it would certainly give me a convenient base of operations. I'm going to give it some time before I make a move like that, but if the workload is what they are projecting, it seems like an interesting option.

I just learned that our Permian Basin has more oil reserves than Saudi Arabia, gotta love The Lone Star!

Keep up the great work Bill!

I don't live and die by every video on the internet, but I try to find things to try to see if they help. I don't do everything Steve Perry says about noise reduction, but it is a decent video to get an understanding of what is what. I have probably watched a dozen other videos to understand what the SW is doing. Keep on keeping on!

We had these little drive up to photo booths downtown, yellow with Kodak on them, like the size of a 5 x 10 trailer, you'd drop your film off and pick it up in a week or two and hopefully had enough for another roll of film to do it all over again.

I would buy my film from Skylark Camera in Pasadena. Sure, I could get it from discount stores like Globe or Sage, but I was told Skylark kept a fresh inventory.

I remember when I switched from film to digital. My wife wanted every minute of the Christmas holidays documented on film. January, 2002, after all our Christmas expenses I spent $400 on film and processing. The next month I bought a Canon G2, then later the 40D. I saved many $$$ with that G2.

The 40D was another story. I had my Canon AE-1 for twenty years and it worked great, no matter what lens I put on it. If I recall I spent about $500 for the camera in 1976, including a 50mm lens, case and speedlight. The G2 was a couple of hundred more. With digital, the improvements were so impressive, I found myself buying new cameras every couple of years, so much for saving money using digital instead of film...
