Yeah,

I got the news a few days ago. We all knew that it was coming, the "Expo" was the final gasp, although it was a success given what it was. There are a lot of whiners on social media that throw out things like corporate greed, etc.,I guess they expect Ross to spend hundreds of millions of dollars building the first "commercial" airport in the country, but not develop it so everyone can go to an air show. Wonder how they would feel if it was their dollars on the line?

Been an incredibly busy and rigorous week business wise. I stopped by the hangar to trouble shoot a little door problem and as I was raising the door a 1/4" stainless cable snapped and came within a foot of taking my head off my shoulders. So, I guess that I found the problem........

Had a crew of specialists out today who spent five hours going over the door replacing and adjusting everything so the chances of that happening again are diminished. One of the drawbacks of having tenants is the wear and tear on the hangar door. I think I'm going to start easing into reclaiming my hangar.

Interesting that, after all the hoopla, the R1 might be 45MP. I understand that and am fine with it, I just couldn't rationalize the 24MP R3. Makes sense, sports guys don't want 80MP files, 45 is a sweet spot.

It's not like we can't use an 80MP file, we just don't want to shoot football with a 24-70 and crop out half the pixels so we can transmit them over the internet!

Jim, I am very curious what the R1 will be and how much Canon wants for it. I hope with the marvelous Nikon Z8's aggressively low pricing, Sony and Canon will feel the pressure. I bet the Sony A1's margin must be over $2000.

Thanks Douglas 😀. Yes, the Canon R1 will be interesting, but personally, in Sony world I want the stabilisation and AI chip from the A7RV combined with the everything that the A1 already does, all of which I guess will appear in the Alpha One mark II. If the Z8 pricing helps to put pressure on Sony pricing I will be very happy. And while I’m dreaming, it would be nice to have a slightly brighter and sharper version of the 200-600, too.

Pricing is anyone's guess at this point, the R1 could come in somewhere between 6 & 8K. The wildcard will be the large sensor R5 variant, it'll probably be priced like the R3, high 5K range. Whatever they are, they are, I'm in!

I would like to see a higher mp sensor. I still dont understand the logic behind lower mpx's makes a better IQ image. But that is above my pay grade.

Yeah I had one of those near death life experiences with a cable snapping in half and whistling over my head. If I had hair, I would have got a free olde style "flat top"
