p.1 #1 · Which laptop

I am going to buy a new laptop soon for Business/ photography. Have only used Windows XP in the past with photoshop. For those of you who use laptops for photoshop which in your opinion is the best one for a reasonable price.

I know the Macs are a lot more pricey. and I know the graphics cards are very important.
I'm leaning towards staying with windows , so perhaps it comes down to the processor and the graphics card

What kind of photographic workload do you plan on doing with the laptop?

If its an anticipated light load you could get by with the lower end dual core laptops with 2GB ram. These run around $599-799 for a nicely loaded laptop. A heavier workload you you may want to consider one with more ram, a dedicated graphics card, etc. You can be looking at anything from $899-2400.

Give a few more details on what you anticipate doing and your choices can be narrowed down.

The MacBook Pro runs Windows faster than any other laptop currently available. It is also the fastest Photoshop machine on the market.

Ditto per Jerry. I own the MacBook Pro and use Bootcamp to dual boot in to XP. I got really tired of the crap support by Lenovo, Toshiba, Dell etc...

I would stay with Windows personally, and get 2GBs RAM, a good dual core processor and a decent graphics card with at least a 160 GB hardrive. Should run you less than $1000.

MacBook Pro starts well above that.

Unless you find a non-intel or non-apple independant site.

But really I get no money for saying get a PC versus get a mac. Its really a matter of personal preference since the hardware is the same. You either like the Mac OS and Mac hardware or a plethora of PC hardware and windows.

If you are familiar and comfortable with Windows you can save some $$$ on hardware. The OP may get by with a $599 notebook... which are no slouches. Nothing wrong with Macs other than being too proprietary for my taste.

Asus G1S versus MacBook Pro.. $450 difference.

Both are well reviewed.
