Thank you to everyone who participated in the monthly assignment and congratulations to the finalists
First place prize: The winning photographer will receive a one year FM Gallery (60mb) or a choice of any FM Plugin or FM Action.
For more info about the FM Gallery Host, click here.
If you have not done so yet, please take a few seconds to review the Monthly assignment (MA) rules. Any member that registers and votes more than once will be disqualified from future participation and banned from the forum.
Since a few images are links to other servers, they may be down and unavailable from time to time. This is out of my control because I can only keep an eye on images uploaded to the FM Gallery host or via Image Upload service.
You have the opportunity to choose the winner for MA 45: Opposites. Although all of the entries showed good potential and the choice was very hard to make, I took several factor into consideration, including image quality, subject matter, relevance to the assignment, and creativity just to name a few.
First, second and third winners will be posted at the forum portal.
Please cast your vote. (Random order) - Refresh the page if an image does not show up (F5)
It seems that these Monthly Assignments are overshadowed by their Weekly Assignment counterparts. I, however, regard ANY creative contribution with equal regard and respect.
I'm glad to be amongst these great photos, and proud to be contributing in both WAs and MAs with an awesome group of artists.
I know I have not participated much lately, but I have not missed a vote in the MA. There have been many times where I was torn between two or more great images. But for the first time in since joining FM, I choose not to vote in the MA, because I feel no photo is a stand out, and in my opinion, most do not fit the subject. My gut instinct would be to vote for edgewater, but I feel that if one of the children was frowning, that would be much more fitting to the subject. Cute kids do not equate a shoe in, in my book. Nice photo, but boy/girl as opposites are not very creative enough for the monthly. I feel (ala Emeril) it could have been kicked up a notch.

I am sorry you didn't like any shots this month including mine. I have to respectfully disagree, however. I think there were a number of very good entries in general and some very strong shots in the final. Sure many could have been better--I know mine could have been. Perhaps next time you can offer some constructive critiques before the vote and help us improve our work. If you submit some shots I am sure that people will offer you constructive advice as well. That way we can all lend a hand and help each other learn. In this way perhaps the overall quality will improve.
The one thing I respect so well with this forum is the mostly positive comments and supportive critiques. I feel, as I'm sure most do, that the voting should remain anonymous. Any criticisms should be voiced before the finalists are chosen and on an individual photo basis.
I agree, sometimes the collective work may appear less than ideal. But every contribution took time and thought. Let's not take cheap shots at each other's work past the point in which anyone can do anything about it. If someone thinks the entries can be improved upon and won't provide C&C before the deadline, offer up a better choice in the form of their own contribution.
I'm here to better my craft in a supportive and creative environment. I welcome all criticisms and comments. Let's keep those C&C constructive.
