I think this shot conveys the tension associated with this type of compulsion extremely well. I have two minor suggestions: Have you tried cloning out the square object to the left of the soap bottle - I think that a complete void in that upper left corner might make the soap bottle more obvious. The second is to clone out the faucet handle above the left thumb. (this suggestion I am not as sure about). I really like the reflections from the faucet handle on the right side of the hands, but for some reason, the highlights right above her

Hi Amy,

Thanks so much for the suggestion. I did clone out the square object (tile from the countertop) to the left and I think it really improves the shot, and while I was at it I cloned out the hand soap bottle as Steve R. recommended. I think it helps to get rid of the distractions. Thanks so much for your helps and your kinds words.

By the way, you are anything but a hack. Your entries have been terrific.

Best wishes,

Steve S.

In case anyone wants to see what it looked like with just the square cloned out here is that image:

You're going to hate me, but, if the soap bottle goes too, I think the rest of the faucet handle that I suggested you take out to the left of the stream of water should either go back in, or the whole horizontal part of the handle needs to go. Otherwise the balance of the shot is top-right heavy. I kind of like the soap bottle in, but you are right the the shot is more striking without it.
BTW - I am a indeed hack, and one who needs to get her own shot in this week rather than mentally meddling with yours and others -but I can't think of anything that will be as good as those that are already up here ! Good luck this week!!

Hi Amy,

I independently thought the same thing and have now posted the shot with the whole faucet out. I think I like this best. Thanks again for your help. I really appreciate it and good luck with your own shot. I am sure your entry will be great.

Take care,

Steve S.

Guessing the point at the first look it a mark of a successful shot and that's certainly the case here.

Congrats for this very fitting entry !

When I was speaking to my daughter about the theme for this week she immediately suggested hand washing. I couldn't possibly have captured it as powerfully as you did. The red fingers clearly show that it has moved to the obsessive level. Great shot. Thea

Great concept, Steve. I have a psychotherapist friend who used to be obsessive-compulsive and washed her hands a lot till they bled. Nicely executed!!

I do like the image with the reflective water handle, but it does look "cleaner "as you have it posted now. Very well represented of this type of an obsession. The pinkish on the fingers adds all the more to the obsessive quality. Thanks so much for posting a before and after as it really helps compare everyones comments and work in progress. Very well done!

Hi Bev,

This compulsion can be very devastating for folks. I hope and trust your friend has kept it in check. Thanks for your kind comments.
