p.1 #1 · Using a polarizing filter for general birding
I just picked up a 600mm for birding and went ahead and bought the 52mm circular polarizing filter as it was one of the highly recommended accessories.
I was wondering what percentage of the nature and wildlife photographers here use a drop-in polarizing filter, and what might be some of the advantages or disadvantages of its use beyond the obvious or what’s stated in the literature?
p.1 #2 · Using a polarizing filter for general birding
I'll use the drop in if I have to shoot say 10-3 on a bright day. The times with good light
I really hate losing a stop or two with it. I shoot a 300 f2.8 w/TC wide open but would
think the same line of reasoning will apply for the 400/500/600 superteles.

football season. The games start at 1:00. I will order a polarizing filter right now. BP
