Rob Galbraith has posted a notice on his website that the much awaited Mark III test of the Canon Mark III "fix" will be posted during the latter 1/2 of the week of November 19th. Cheers to an optomistic weekend.

I suspect that Michael Reichmann, on Luminous Landscape would have said more if he had any problems with his preproduction 1DsMark III on his trip to Madagascar. Nothing to do now but be positive and optomistic that the fix works. Still I wonder from a marketing standpoint if Canon can afford not to introduce anohter model more quickly than originally planned? Only time will tell. Red
John,
I think Canon might find that even though the problem is solved, the reputation is damaged and effecting sales. The world is not always a just place. Canon is, like any money making organization, concerned with turning a profit. Perhaps (note, I said perhaps) their sales figures will be so far below original estimates that they will speed up another body introduction. Remember this is just idle speculation, nothing better to do I guess until Rob G. publishes his findings.

Given some of their recent problems (1dMkIII focus, 70-300 portrait "droop", 24-105 flare, etc) I would hope Canon would go the opposite direction and slow things down a bit.
I'd rather see new lenses released once a year and new bodies every two years that have been thoroughly tested. Sooner or later these issues will have an impact on their bottom line and pushing out half tested designs in an attempt to prop up waning quarterly profits is horribly short sighted.
I have every intention of getting a MkIII, but probably not until sometime early next year when all of this has fully settled down and I can be reasonably certain of getting a defect free body.
I thought the problem revolved around autofocus in Servo mode on hot, bright sunny days. How is he going to accurately replicate the heat factor in the middle of November, in the U.S.?

Come visit me in Florida, but be sure to bring shorts and a t-shirt.

Why introduce another model? You probably have been around photo forums too much .
There are actually a lot of camera users/buyers out there do NOT read forum and thus have not been influenced by the negative comments about the Canon cameras. People keep on forgetting that there is another real world out there and the regular photo forum members only represents a small % of total camera users.
Also, there are a lot of happy Canon forum members and they were just happily shooting away instead of bashing Canon every chance they have in the forum (like luckily a very small % of forum members). We all know that happy users do NOT post nearly as much as unhappy users.
I'm "happily shooting away" and grateful that I have had all his time with my Mk III. Yes I'm going to send it in but then I would have anyway-to match it up to my lenses.
Read the original post and then my follow on post. This thread is about Rob Galbraith's upcoming test results and the future of the Mark III. It is not about whether or not you are "greatful" for your time with your Mark III, or whether or not you are a "happy" user (whatever that means).

Not everyone's from the US. Galbraith is from Alberta Canada. Having said that, even less opportunity for hot weather

According to this note over on NSN, a couple of the most experienced photogs over there tried to use a new MkIII from inside the affected serial range, but one that Canon said was good, and the much discussed focus issues showed up at -9 Celsius (16 degrees Farenheit.) The main point of the author is that the problem would seem to have little to do with heat. (That temp is lower than the lower boundry of the camera's operating range, according to the manual, but only by about 15 degrees.) Eeeks.
I just picked up my "Blue Dot model" M3 tonight, I will post some results later this weekend if the sun comes out, may not be a hot climate test, but that was not always the case for my problems with my other 3 bodies I had, this will be number 4 and I sure hope the problem is fixed, I will post later, one thing that I noticed right off the bat, the camera did not seem to jump around on static objects in AI servo like the other 3 bodies I had did, seems to obtain focus and keep it, even if the object does not move. (seem to act like my old M2 did on static object in AI servo. I really can't wait to take this out and get some BIF shots to test it out. as of now it looks like Sunday we may have some sun.
keep in mind, this was all tested in my dinning room, It was dark out when I picked it up.
I am in Tampa so I know about heat. It wasn't feeling too hot this morning at 45 degrees!
Ya, I live in Tallahassee, but when I was out Wed testing my d40 I was wearing shorts, a t-shirt, and flip flops. And the same is predicted by the middle of next week, but I will be in DC visiting my sister for turkey day.
