I'm considering to save up for a good tripod.
On the Gitzo site I saw the 1530.It said it can handle up to 8 kilogram.
It will be used with a 30D with 17-40 or comparable weight or a 70-200 F4 IS after buying it.
Will this weight be ok on this tripod?Maybe some of you know or own the pod..
any advice is welcome.
Yes, I believe that the 1530 will be fine with that gear. If you decide on a 400 f2.8, you'll probably have to switch tripods, but the lightweight 70-200L should not pose any issue.
As an alternative to consider, I have a Velbon 630 and I'd say it is equally able to support the gear you've described at about 1/2 the price of the 1530.
When you get in this class of tri-pod there is little difference in price so take your time deciding and think about your long term wants/needs. I would suggest the 1540 over over the 1530 due to the collapsable length for carry on airline travel. The 2540 is 22" collapsed so it still works very well for carry on and the tariff is only about $50 more. If you plan on or even if there is a possability of using longer glass in the future I'd go with the 2540. The 2 series is also much better in wind. It does not take a considerable amount of wind to have an impact on yor shooting. The 2540 with the RRS BH-40 LR II tips the scales at 4.25# so it's nice and light. Having said all of that the 1540 is an incredible light weight rig.

thank you David.
Well I will take my time thinking about
what upgrade it is gonna be.
If I buy one, I want it to be the right one for a long term.
Isn't it annoying when setting up if your legs are 4 parts?
That was the reason I was looking at the 30.
Or is it really to big for going on a plane with me?
The 1540 is surprisingly rigid but doesn't do well with heavy torsional forces such as is the case of blustery conditions like on a coastal cliff.
Everything is a trade off as in real terms, it's a two tripod world. The 2540 hits the middle ground squarely but because it's designed as a middle ground solution, it too is blessed with it's foibles.
A 1540, with a Kirk FP-100 tripod mount plate (column removed) and a BH-25Pro ballhead is a scant 1221g compared to the weight of a 2540 (column) w/BH-40LR II attached.
The point of the above, even at this price level of performance, there's still consideration of compromise.
I've settled on the 1540 w/BH-25Pro and a BH-40LR II combination and an obsolete 1325 with Bogen/Manfrotto 468MG w/RRS lever clamp attached. I owned the 1325 before the 35XX series came out and there's not enough of a benefit, at this time and point, to merit the cost of an upgrade.
Sample pic embedded below; 1540 w/BH-40LR II and 1325 with 468MG w/RRS lever clamp.

The 1530 is 24.4" folded so it will not fit in a standard airline carry on. However you could check it in a bag if you are comfortable giving the airlines your unlocked or TSA locked bags with valuables inside. Personally I want mine in my carry on so 22" is the maximum folded length. The 4th leg is a non-issue for me. The new G-locks are so quick and easy it really is a moot point however IMO the 1530 will be slightly stronger. I have yet to find any compromise with the 2540.
