p.1 #1 · p.1 #1 · Help this newbie learn about alternative lenses

I have a Canon 5D and numerous L lenses but just started reading about alternative lenses here at FM and am intrigued. So intrigued I keep looking at that Distagon 21mm in the Buy and Sell forum.

Unfortunately I am clueless as to what's required and the history of these lenses. CY, CV, CZ, Zeiss, Olympus, etc. How does it work with the EF mount? How do I even know if a lenses can be adapted to work?

Are there any web sites or links that you can point me to to get the basics?

Thanks in advance.
