Posting late at night.......this is the mama kildeer I have been shooting for a couple weeks. Went by her nest thursday evening and all her eggs were gone. Nest in perfect condition, nothing disturbed, but she was around the area and came towards me once.
anyway, just another crop for........for looking at I guess.
Thanks
What a bunch of Crop.......... Looks like CropCrap Dave > Give up sell all your gear and pick up Needle Point or Bowling > Your photography days are behind you............
She is just excellent, Dave.
You know, Killdeer hatch and are on the run immediatly--so maybe she had them hidden somewhere else. I know you will go back and keep checking.
Great shot--impressive!
Hello Dave
Heck I'm impressed you got a frame full to start with. Nice crop portrait of that elusive Kildeer. Hope you find the little ones are safe too.

You must have been within 15 feet or so? The detail is spectacular. Can't wait to see what happens next.
Thanks Maggie. 15 feet is just about right, she came several times withing MFD and more than filled the frame

Thank you Bonnie, I really think they may have not been fertile anyway, it is so far into the fall. There was no sign of shell or residue and the nest area was "so" undisturbed

What a pleasure to view----thanks, Dave!!
Thanks Juli and Jim....I processed these in ProPhoto RGB
and I do believe after 8 bit sRGB conversion that there is a better gradation in the color and highlight details are much easier retained
It doesn't get any better than this, Dave. Great job. Love how you can see the subtle orangish shades at the feather tips, as well as how all the colors blend so well. Awesome!! I hope you find the babies safe and sound.
Love your shot of the Kildeer. We have Spurwings down under and they have to be the stupidist birds when it comes to hiding their nests and young I have ever come across.
I remember one who insisted on building her nest beside a cattle watering trough so every year I had to move the cattle from that paddock and after they hatched she used to hide them on the track I rode down past that trough?
On second thoughts, could be she was smart.
love the work on this site. thank you every one for sharing it
