We got a 100 light and love it since we can dial it down. You cant make a light brighter, but can dumb it down. I say get the 100

Video light used in a wireless lighting workshop by the TriCoast guys (Mikey & Cody). Those guys are awesome and if I'm not mistaken, this image was taken with the Sunpak that you can find from B&H, Adorama or Amazon for $35.

You can always ask Mike for more information on these. He's super nice and very helpful.

Hey thanks for the nice words and yes we use video lights, for about 4-5 years now.

We have about 6 different ones ranging from 20 bucks to $300. Each having a different tone or white blance (temp) to the light so it gives you a completely different look.

We use them at the first dance and exit shots at every wedding as well as the smaller ones for detail shots such as cake shots or table shots.

Truly one of the best things you can do for your business.

Not sure if I can help you out but if you have any questions please ask away!

Here are a few shots I have taken using our video lights.

I haev a question for you. I deal with videographers all the time, and once of the problems I have notices with video lights is the concentrated hot spots. It really seems to only work if you have the lights with an assistant pretty far away.

How are you modifying the lights to keep the light soft?

well..that wouldn't be a video light then would it... even a small soft box on a 40 light would give very little light. On a 100w light, you get still get a hot spot. I'll post some images up later to show you what I mean.

I worked as a videographer for twenty years. even if you look at MyKey's work, you see that if you are less than a few feet away, you will get the same effect of exposed subject and black background. Or you open it up without modifiers and then you flood the room with harsh light.

I'd like to revive this thread as i'm currently looking for a video light system to shoot weddings.

I'm looking at the PagLight C6 as it's reasonably priced but after reading this am I better to pay the extra for a 100W dimmable system?

I don't want to spend too much but I want it to be a useful tool rather then a cheap alternative

Thanks for any help
