This week's theme seemed like a lot of fun, but for a while the only long exposure shots I could think of were kind of dark and moody, that is, until I saw my boots festering in the corner...
This a great shot, the lighting is beautiful. Can you tell us how you you did this? Did your flash fire mutiple times, or is it a multiple exposure? What ever your technique it's a winner.

I love the shot - great capture Andy. If I had to guess I would say it was done by light-painting the ball and then the boot in multiple positions. It's gotta be a finalist for sure.
It was light-painted, however, since I have no lighting setup (I usually do nature and travel photography, except for the occasional FM assignment) the best tool I had for the job was a three D-cell Mag light! It was a 13 second exposure, at f/10 in a darkened room, with a quick flick of the Mag light onto the ball and then on the boot as I moved it towards the ball. The timing was by feel, though there was quite a bit of trial and error involved.
Sensational! After I realized it wasn't a high tech articulated cyborg arm, I thought it was sort of stop motion strobe shot of a kick. I'm even more impressed hearing how "manual" the technique was.
