Jane,
Another interesting entry. Lighting, focus and shot layout complement your imagination.
Well done!
Tom
Thanks Tom!
I know... a gun again... but hopefully not as offensive.
The origins of this little beauty are a mystery. There are no markings on it but it looks well used. I doubt a modern black power gun would have so much wear or maybe it was manufactured to look that way. It is missing it's hammer, but I bought it from a neighbor for it's beauty. He found it in some things left behind by his room mate. I bought it for $25 about 20 years ago.

Every picture tells a story, and I like the story this one tells! Blood would be shed, for sure!
That's a lovely pistol, and your composition is great fun! Super Job!
Thanks Philly!
When this theme came up last time, I forgot about this relic. I'm glad I remembered this time. The full size shows more of the scrolling, but a lot got lost in the resize. I have left it out of the vault incase we get a theme where I can use it as a macro to show it's true beauty.

I, too, like a photo that tells a story.
Nice set up and lighting.

Thanks Carrol!
This seem to me like a perfect background for this relic rather than just a closer view on a plain background. I would have liked to shoot it tighter, but I like the story this shot tells and I was willing to sacrifice some of the detail to achieve the drama.

Love the story here, - very clever, those darn aces get everywhere !
Great photo, a winner I'm sure.

Thanks Howard!
I was going for a story that fit the era of this relic and this seemed a natural. This black powdered gun would have been what is refered to as a pocket pistol or a derringer. By today's standards it is rather large, but in those days the concealed weapons laws were not what they are today.
I'm hoping for a finalist, but I think the composition could be a little stronger. But I'm glad the story has been conveyed.
beautiful concept here ... the only thing i would change is to change one off the hands to "Aces and eights" ... the dead mans hand thing fits with the Gun

Thank you!
I'm not much of a poker player so I would not have thought of that. I was just thinking about a ace up ones sleeve.
