Thanks so much, Jim, my friend! Too bad I missed the deadline, but I'm glad I shot the photo for posterity.
This is an old hand-carved Hungarian chess set that is really kind of humorous. If you look carefully, you will notice that all the pawns alre little Hungarian peasants and have little pipes in their mouths that are made of the opposite color wood from the pawn itself. (Another opposite!) I am well acquainted with the Drueke chess sets, though. I ought to get one, indeed.

This chess photo is excellent! Papa is worth his weight in gold and should take up modeling - as should your daughter Eva. You should get them a classic Drueke Chess Set...they use to make them in my hometown, but have moved to Ann Arbor now...classic shaped pieces, and have been used in grandmaster competitions
