Aw shucks... I've been really busy with my theater show so the one time I'm late with a photo, Fred is on time closing the WA.

Oh well, just for fun, here is what I would have entered - "Opponents". A photo of Eva and Papa playing chess (something they actually do frequently). Lots of opposites: Light and dartk, old and young, black and white, male and female.

Congratulations to all the finalists! Great shots, all !!!

By the way, Some of you may remember my photo of a broken egg that I entered in the WA awhile back. It was selected by the curator of the San Francisco Museum of Contemporary Art from almost 3000 entries from 40 countries to be among the 87 photos on display in the 2007 - International "Art Of Digital Show" http://www.artofdigitalshow.com/ exhibition opening this Saturday night in San Diego, California. It's a great honor and I want to thank Fred and all of you for making it possible, since that was a WA inspired photo.

Congratulations Endre! I remember your broken egg photo...It knocked my broken egg photo out of that WA, and it should have. Had excellent lighting, but was on a different theme than I pursued. This chess photo is excellent! Papa is worth his weight in gold and should take up modeling - as should your daughter Eva. You should get them a classic Drueke Chess Set...they use to make them in my hometown, but have moved to Ann Arbor now...classic shaped pieces, and have been used in grandmaster competitions

Thanks so much, Jim, my friend! Too bad I missed the deadline, but I'm glad I shot the photo for posterity.

This is an old hand-carved Hungarian chess set that is really kind of humorous. If you look carefully, you will notice that all the pawns alre little Hungarian peasants and have little pipes in their mouths that are made of the opposite color wood from the pawn itself. (Another opposite!) I am well acquainted with the Drueke chess sets, though. I ought to get one, indeed.
