This gives a whole new meaning to a golf scramble, Louis. Nice work, indeed!

If you were really good, you would be capturing the egg just as the driver hit the shell, with a little deformity of the shell, and cracks just beginning to form. If you were good. Of course, only kidding. Great idea.

Hey Charlie,

I actually tried that with my son and a golf ball for the "Slow Motion" assignment. I burned up a couple of flash cards and a few sets of batteries trying to get lucky enough to actually catch the event of the club face hitting the ball. No such luck. I did get one shot of post-contact and thought about using it, but decided against it.

Thanks for looking!

Nice shot Louis, very creative.
Nice and sharp with great colors, I like the low angle composition with the very fragile ball in the foreground.
(It looks that you have the greenest grass in NC)

Thanks John, just having a little fun. That shot was taken at our country club where we have a private lake. It's down about 5 feet due to the drought, but they still have the opportunity to keep the golf course nice and green. You can tell where the sprinklers don't reach... it looks our our yards....yucky brown and dry as a bone. I'm praying for rain every day.

This is really hilarious, Louis! Really well done. My only little dritique might be that I don't like the line of trees (or whatever the brown area is) in the distant background visible at the top of the photo. I find it a little distracting. It would be really easy to clone that out but It would have to be done with a littloe care so as not to see the clone lines. For me, though, that would make the shot perfect. Either way, the shot and the concept are wonderful!

All the best,

Endre

Thanks Endre, I always appreciate your comments. I agree about the line of trees at the top. I was at 17mm and took several angles. The shot that I liked the best had the shadow of the egg up against the club which was undesirable. This one had the right spacing for the club but then I noticed the line of trees was at the top of the egg.

I'm still a newbie with Photoshop and usually prefer to shoot in camera and make small adjustments prior to posting, so I just left the line at the top. It's distracting for sure, but this is my first entry all summer and I am a little rusty.

I finally ponied up and bought a new computer to do my post processing. My old Dell Inspiron 1100 was getting so hot during my photo editing sessions it would almost catch on fire! When it started shutting itself down on its own, I decided it was time to spend my summer photo earnings from my sports photography on a new 'puter.

My new Dell 9200 is so fast I am amazed. It runs my Canon DPP and Photoshop 7 so fast I think I should be waiting on a task when in fact, it is already done.

Thanks again for taking a look and commenting. I still think its great to be able to post here and get comments from the "masters" like you and my good friend and neighbor, John.

Louis,
Neat shot, love it. Would have loved to see it right at impact, but as we both know the timing is so incredibly difficult without a trigger. Good luck my friend.

Louis, I'm so sorry to be late in saying how much I love this image! It's just a perfect take on the WA and you captured it beautifully. My recent experience shooting on a golf green makes me appreciate how sharp your image it, and the problems that arise with lighting. You did a super job.

Congratulations on making the finals....but I would have been shocked if you hadn't!
