Okay, ya'll, I know I'm late, and I know this is not a great capture, but at least I'm here!
Sorry about missing this one, but maybe Fred will give us an extension......not that this take on an old ketchup TV commercial will be in the running.

At least give me E for effort!

C&C welcome, and solicited, as always.

Good to see you Philly and for making the effort, but you, and all of us, know you are better than this. Sometimes it is not what you do but what you learn...

Vipermikes thread about posting in the WA has made me all philosophical this week...

Hi Adam! You're so right. At least about what we learn here.......not sure I'm really better than this.

My only other idea was to ask Daddy to pose on his walker, but he doesn't use it much anymore, and time got away from me this week.

Oh well..........it's an entry! At least I can shoot for 'perfect attendance.' (No pun intended. )

Thanks for looking, my friend! Now I need to go see what Mike said......anybody tell me where he posted it?

Cool!

Everybody sing!

Anticipation
Antici-pa-a-tion, is making me late
Is keeping me wa-a-a-a-a-ting!

(Oh see? That explains why I'm late, too!)

Glad to see you posted anyway, Philly. It seems many of us struggled with this assignment. And it still turned out, although your white-balance seems a little yellowish to me.

Best,
Jason

Hi Jason! You're right! Wonder how I did that.......and how to correct it!
I'll work on it, though. I sure appreciate the input!

Yeah a tough one all right. Went to Muir Woods looking for banana slugs (sloooowwww-slimy-yellow native creatures) but they're never around when you need them!!! o well... Good luck, all (even bare-assed Fib !)

Hi Evleen! Yep, this one got me. I know it's not great, but at least I tried.

Oh yeah, and I checked my white balance, and the problem was that the plate and the cap on the ketchup are two different shades of white. Oh well. We do the best we can.

Do you mind if I have a go at correcting it a little more? I think with dual curves layers for white balance you might achieve good results.

Philly,
I was wondering when you'd be joining us with your shot. You might say I was waiting for "Anticipation" (I amuse me)

I don't relish the job of critiqing this but you really need the classic bottle. The stay clean squeeze bottle just doesn't have the same sense of slow.

But I like the results

Marc

Jason, I would LOVE it if you played with the 'curves layers' because I have no idea what that means, or how to do it! Yes! Please! Show me, and if it isn't too complicated, tell me what/how you do what you do!

Thanks, my friend!

Hi Marc!
I totally agree........the wrong bottle and a pretty lame stand-in, for sure!
I don't mind your critique at all......believe me, I know its flaws.

It's the effort, and the learning, right?

(Thanks, my friend!)

Hello Philly,
I think this is a great idea and execution. I really like the plate you chose, the bright colors are very nice. Ketchup or Catsup can be very slow to leave a bottle.
Well done.

Here we go Philly, this is kinda what I had in mind.

http://i.pbase.com/o6/46/667946/1/84713374.bLsXUIKB.slomo4copy.jpg

In photoshop I added a curves adjustment layer, clicked the white on the plate with the white selection tool, then masked out everything but the plate on that adjustment layer.
Then I added a second curves adjustment layer and repeated the process in reverse, selecting the cap for white, and masking out the plate. Hope that helps

P.S. This is a quick adjustment, so it's a little overexposed in light of the two curves layers. You might need to darken the image with a levels adjustment layer before adding curves.

Only been around for a short time but was wondering when you were going to post this week.

Good to see you made it. I also can't get the song out of my head.

Thanks, Nick! I love those crazy dishes because of the colors, and patterns.....they fit me, I think. (The crazy part, anyway.)

Thanks so much for the great compliments!

Jason, that's a great job! I hate to confess, but it's probably obvious....I'm a PhotoShop rookie! I don't know an 10th of what it can do, so what I usually post is pretty much right out of the camera....other than a little sharpening, and tweaking with Fred's 'Velvia Vision.' I don't even know what curves mean. (duh)

I'm learning, though! From you, and some of the other great folks here who are always willing to share the 'how to's'! Thank you so much! I wish I could post YOUR image as an edit.

sigh
