Cute shot, but if I had to critique, I'd look to position the flash in such a way so as not to create the harsh shadows around the hand and the forehaead water droplets.

But I'm a bit rubbish at expressing opinions, so probably best to ignore my mumblings.

Thanks fibble. I actually do not own any external flashlites (yet). This was with the onboard of my 30D.

BTW, love your post on the WA. Very creative. I couldn't quite figure how to best meet this post ...

Hey Mark! Glad to see your post. I myself tend to avoid the onboard flash when possible for reasons Flibble mentioned. If you have to, try using a piece of tissue over the flash to soften and dispurse the light. You may have to add a stop or two to counter the exposure. A presious shot non the less! This is a tough assignment.

I really appreciate your input. On that note, I am considering buying a flashlite and I'm torn between the 580 and 430 EX's. Is the cost difference justified? I am a quick learner (necessary because I tend to be impatient at times) and I am trying to build my camera pack according to a long term hobbie with aspirations. Let me know your thoughts and again, thank you for your tip, I'll be trying that out soon ...

Mark, I have not used the 580 but I was happy with the 430ex on my D60 and 10D. They make a nice soft box that fits over the end of the 430ex.
