Our public library has one of the prettiest Foucault Pendulums I've seen. It is in the center of a 5 story atrium that is topped by the worlds largest ceiling clock (40ft diameter). You can see the number 6 lit up on the right of the center dark octangonal ring. (Iit is not recognizable just visible.)
It was started on New Year's eve in 2002

I wondered if anyone was going to capture a shot of this kind of "clock". I would love to see one in action. The weight is quite beautiful, it must be quite large. The reflections see in it are very nice. Well done!

Thanks for the comments guys. I had planned to do some clock guts since no one else has really done that yet but then I remembered the library's clocks.
I think the pendulum's weight is 235 pounds and about 1 1/2 feet in diameter.
The rail around the pendulum is only 2 feet high so kids will sometimes grab the pendulum as it goes by, thus the top is usually smudged with hand prints. I tried to get the cleanest side.
Nice tracking C! It came out great!! There was a similar pendulum at the Observatory in Griffith Park here in CA. It was purely mechanical and would knock over a peg every hour for 24 hours, if I'm not mistaken. Amazing timekeepers.
