Captured these shots from a great camping trip on Forked Lake in the Adirondacks with two good friends over the weekend. These were stacked to show the passage of 20 minutes, a clock in motion. It's the Big Dipper (part of Ursa Major).

Nicely done Nick, how many frames is this? I like the leaves, it almost looks like fall.

Thanks Tom,
This is a stack of 20 one minute exposures plus one dark frame subtraction. The leaves are lit up a camp fire that was burning near by. It wasn't till after I shot these that I realized I was using the wrong ISO. I meant to use ISO 800 instead of 200 that these were all shot with. The result is fewer starts but a darker sky.

Nice clean capture Nick and no sign of the inevitable 747, satellite, or meteor streaks. I personally like to shoot this longer for side-by-side trails but then it's hard not to blow out your foreground subjects. Well done!

Excellent work. I like the foreground elements too, the orange cast gives it an autumn feel.

Thank You Vipermike,
To be honest, I was hoping to capture a Perseid meteor that night. Our camp site was heavily wooded and the dock/lake front, with the clearest view, faced north. The mistake of using ISO 200 kept the sky nice and dark. There aren't that many planes flying over the Adirondacks.

Hello Andrew,
Thanks. When I left Friday morning for a weekend of camping in the Adirondacks, I didn't know what the WA was. When I found out Sunday night what the WA was, I decided to try and use the mistakes I took the night before. I was really trying for a Perseid meteor capture, instead I ended up with something for a WA entry.

Wonderful shot, Nick, my friend! I think you really did use the right ISO after all. Sometimes, the photography angels correct our mistakes for us. Lovely!

Fond regards,

Endre
