Hi Max,
Very nice, I love the long shadows and the color of the light from this time of day. Great title too, pefect for the WA.

gorgeous... definitely resonates with a feeling of coldness...i think the sky adds a lot to the cold, looks threatening to snow...

This is a really interesting shot with strong elements in it that really got me to thinking. Rather than being creeped out, what struck me was the strong contrast between the cold ground and the brilliant light that is penetrating what would otherwise have been a gloomy scene. That really adds a totally different symbolism to me. I bet this shot would sell well as a stock photo.

Very different, and a wonderfully executed shot.

Thank you all very much. This shot was taken last Sunday morning. I was out to photograph something entirely different when I spotted this view in my peripheral vision. Isn’t that always the way, the shot I was originally after didn’t work. I was rushed to shoot as the clouds where closing fast, the sun was gone 5 minutes later. You were right Jennifer the snow started about an hour later.

There's something very peaceful, if cold, about this shot. And hopeful.
Really beautifully done, Max.

Well done! You've got such a great perspective here, and I'm jealous of those shadows! Fantastic work, particularly in that you were able to recognize it while not initially looking for it.

I believe that this happens a lot more than we realize. I have done a bit of reading on the subject of peripheral vision. Just google it and the amount of information is amazing. To sum it up it appears that "our acute center of vision focuses on the small individual images while our peripheral vision picks up the global view". I believe that this "peripheral vision" allows you to see the basic patterns of light & shade uncluttered by the details of a scene. The very patterns that make or break a photograph. The difficulty in applying this while walking around in search of the "great photograph" is that you would bump into a lot of things

I whole-heartedly believe this. More times than I can count, the photos I'm most happy with are those that I was't looking for. I may have been struggling with a shot I thought I wanted, but which never really worked out only to turn around and have THE shot appear before my eyes. It's synchronicity at it's finest. Sometimes, I deliberately choose to not go out scouting for something specific but rather "let the photo come to me." Invariably, I am not dissappointed with the results.

"I'd rather have them cut me up and spread me all around. Throw my brain in a hurricane, and the blind can have my eyes. The deaf can have both my ears if they don't mind the size." Yes, John Prine is pure genius. Great shot.

I don't usually comment on anything at all, but that is artfully done. The beginning or end of a day, captured over a cemetary with the shadows and light. The contrast of light and shadow is perfect because it creates a tension given the subject matter is a cemetary. The warmth of the sun, the cold of the snow. Very nice technically too.
