While traveling in Minnesota last week, I started experimenting with a pair of trick sunglasses I bought at Restoration Hardware. They allow you to see what is behind you by way of mirror coating on the inside of the lenses. I took this self portrait at a Motel 6.

Yes, it was very surprising how well I could see through them, as well as behind me. I use to see those things in the backs of comic books when I was a child, and always wanted a pair. I bet you can get them from www.restorationhardware.com, or if you live near a store.
This has such a film noir edge to it. Looks like a tricky shot to capture, but you did a nice job. Cool glasses, too. I'm so silly, I'm might have made the bed up first but this adds a nice, slept-in feel to it. Motel 6 would be proud.

Ever see that 60 minutes thing about Motel bedspreads? The first thing I do in ANY hotel/motel is drag that sucker into the far corner. I'm not as bad as that Deal Or No Deal guy...no rubber gloves, or tongs...but I don't sleep on/under anything guaranteed to glow blue under a black light.

This is an extra abstract portrait since the reflection comes from the inside of the glasses… Very unique!

Thanks so much! A friend of mine said it looked like I was staying at the Bates Motel, and the shot was disturbing. (A Motel 6, when it's 13 degrees outside, and everything else is full, may look disturbing.....but be a Godsend.)

Thanks for taking the time to comment. The door visible in that shot is the one to the adjoining room, but you can rest assured the hallway door was also locked, and chained!
